When I first came up with the concept of Sled Tug Hill in the Highmarket Inn, the hill was a mess. Tug Hill's reputation was that of huge moguls and horrible grooming.. Truth is it was. The first encounter I had with locals was businesses saying could you not give honest real trail reports. Many businesses would lie to riders about conditions. I flatly told the businesses NO!!!
Next I encountered a group of locals that tried to put up false reports as trail reporters.. They said on a holiday weekend that the conditions were horrible stay home and put up pictures of plowed roads as trails. They tried to kill the sites reputation. I got rid of more locals trying to stop honest reports on Tug Hill. Well, I put together a team of trail reporters that put up the truth without bashing the snowmobile clubs. Back then Sled Tug Hill went head to head with the snowmobile clubs with many issues. First is why they did not groom on holiday weekends. The answer was the trails where going to get bumped up anyway... What really. Every holiday weekend back then we had deaths from the huge moguls and weekend warriors. We watched and reported what clubs groomed and what trails where not. We were the new watch dogs of Tug Hill and then Old Forge. Grooming started to improve to what we have today. Thank Sled Tug Hill and its trail reporters for that. Then I got heat from locals that more people are coming up to ride. Close the site. I understand that the locals have not liked what I did. But understand Sled Tug Hill was designed for the riders that travel up to 7 hours to ride Tug Hill and Old Forge. Not for the locals. Sled Tug Hill has been fighting the locals from the start. Now we are going to take on a new role. We will expose the bad local companies that look to rip off the snowmobile community that travels to Tug Hill. We will let you know what companies are good and the ones that suck Sled Tug Hill operates at a loss every year. We will continue to support the riders and snowmobile clubs.. So when you read about how great the trails are now on Tug Hill.. My vision made it happen along with the great trail reporters that worked so hard for you, the traveling snowmobile riders.. The locals have been against us from the beginning and are not happy with our new goal.. Busnesses you better be honest and do not rip off the traveling snowmobile riders. You can bash me on FB all you want. But remember when your going down that smooth trail, it was because of my vision. Sled Tug Hill __________________ The Snowmobile Network..Register Today.. Well Mr XRS... I think the trail reporters you have are doing a fine job. The reports on trail conditions, at least the ones I've read, have been helpful and accurate. I've only been back in sledding for just a few years now, so I don't have any experience with what the Hill was like a few years ago but based on what you've described then this site has certainly helped. I also think that when we post incidents and conditions on the hill that it helps the sledding community to pay more attention to how they sled and what they pay attention to. So that is all good stuff and makes it better for everyone. I hope you can keep the site going as it does benefit the sledding community.
